Angus McLeod

I am a lawyer and a software engineer, and have spent about a decade at each. I am currently working on an artificial general intelligence for law, which I will be publishing research on soon, and launching in 2027.

I got my start in technology after moving from Perth to New York and responding to a cash-in-hand job on Craigslist. A decade later I have built and led multiple successful teams, brought multiple products to market, taught myself to code from scratch, and served as both technical and product lead on several deep-tech research projects. I have led multi-stakeholder projects funded by the European Union, built and maintained dozens of successful open source projects, and founded a platform coöperative with a novel governance structure, members on five continents, and clients including The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Roblox, MongoDB, the University of Cambridge, and a large European enterprise.

I have three law degrees and a philosophy degree, from Monash University, the National University of Singapore and New York University. I was specially hired to work for two years as an associate to a judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, on one of the largest litigations in Australian history (see AFR and ABC). I won multiple awards in my university career and wrote my honours thesis on “Common Law Meta-Principles and Statutory Interpretation: An Analytical Study of the Numerus Clausus Principle”.
